I went to see Inception last night. From the previews I saw, I was not sure if I was going to like this film. I could not have been more wrong. Inception is the first truly original film I have seen in a long, long time. It is creative, fresh, and very thought provoking, especially the ending (no spoilers here).
There are some that may have a difficult time following the plot and the twists it takes. It is a nonstop ride that changes both speed and direction on the viewer through out the entire film. Stay with it, though, and you will be rewarded with a wonderfully unique movie going experience.
Inception is a first. It is a true film Masterpiece that others will attempt to clone and copy. Get out and see it on the big screen!!

If it is another hot and humid night in the middle of summer, then it is a good night for a movie. Last night’s fare was Knight and Day with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. This movie and the chemistry between Cruise and Diaz was hyped quite a bit prior to the release of the film. I was not expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised.
Don’t get me wrong… It was not the genre changer that the Producer and Director of the film would have you believe. It is, however, a fun and enjoyable romantic-action-comedy film that keeps you entertained. An over the top plot and predictable, but a wonderful escape from the summer heat and a great excuse for a big bucket of movie popcorn.

As I creative (and photographer), I cannot agree more the point being made in this article. All to often we get caught up with the tools of our trade. Scott’s words and the central idea presented in this post apply to any creative endeavor. It is not about the tools or equipment. It is about the process and act of creation.

Today, my oldest son and I went to see The Last Airbender, the movie based on the Nickelodeon animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. My son was a huge fan of the series when it ran on Nickelodeon and we were both looking forward to seeing the movie.
The movie was a fun outing for my son and I and worth the cost of admission. Having said that, it could have been more than it was. Entertaining yes, but not a whole lot to offer adults or older kids, even if they were fans of the Nickelodeon series. My son at 11 years old, in fact, is probably in the upper age limit for the target audience of this film.
With only a few choice scenes with Aang (The Avatar) using his powers and bending elements, I can only say this film was fun to watch with my son. I would not have enjoyed it on my own. My son, however, really liked it but not as much as the other summer movies we have seen to date.
As the first film in a series, hopefully, the continuation of this franchise will get a bit darker in nature and better.

The day I leave for a long weekend vacation on June 24th with no laptop and access to my RSS feeds, I come home to discover the most wonderful news any patron of 2nd Life could get:
Mark Kingdon has stepped down as CEO at Linden Labs and Philip Rosedale is back at the helm.
Long live Philip!! Don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out Mark!!
Linden Labs and 2nd Life have not faired well in the two years of Mark’s tenure as CEO. Many, including myself, feel his greed and desires to move away from Philip’s original founding vision for 2nd Life have cost Linden Labs and the patrons residing and working in-world dearly. Most recently… This was seen directly in the 30% workforce reduction at Linden Labs. Hopefully, Philip’s return will restore the old vision and pull Linden Labs and 2nd Life out of the chaos created by Mark.

This past Sunday was Father’s Day here in the United States. As part of my day, my kids — all three of them — treated me to a trip to the movies to see Toy Story 3. I could not have asked for a better gift as I love this series as much as much as any kid.
The third installment of Toy Story, however, is a little dark and a bitter sweet tale. Andy is older and soon to be off to college. Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the gang are feeling their age as the day they have long feared approaches.
Although Toy Story 2 is still my favorite, there are many enjoyable twists and turns in Toy Story 3 that make it a wonderful outing and well worth your movie dollars. In my opinion, though, Ken and Barbie steal the show.
WARNING… If you have ever owned a beloved toy growing up, bring some tissues with you and be prepared to cry!!

As you know, if you have read my blog, I have been in 2nd Life since 2004. That is several lifetimes in 1st Life and much has changed since my original avatar first rezzed in-world. People in my 2nd Life have come and gone. Some have had my complete trust and known me in 1st Life… Some have only known me in 2nd Life… This post is dedicated to those people that have been there for me as real friends through out all these years. Trusted friends in 2nd Life are rare and real gifts. Thank you each and everyone. And, as I am fond of saying… All the best to you!!

Growing up, I was a huge fan of the A-Team. If you liked the TV show, you are going to LOVE this movie. Hannibal, Face, B.A., and Murdock, they are all there and true to their TV characters. Yes, it is campy!! Yes, it is over-the-top!! Yes, it is a pure entertainment rocket ride from start to finish!! No movie quotes… No spoilers… This movie may well end up being my favorite of the summer blockbuster season. If not that, then one of the top five for sure. I loved every minute of The A-Team!!

The second movie of the summer blockbuster season was enjoyed last night. The usual suspects this time around were my son and myself. The movie was Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood. I love Ridley Scott and Russel Crowe is one of my favorite actors. This telling of Robin Hood, however, left me lacking somehow when my son and I walked out of the theater. It just did not come together like I though it would and is certainly no Gladiator. Having said that, the movie was enjoyable and the acting, for the most part, was good. If your expectations are not real high, this is a good movie to escape into for a couple of hours.

Another blockbuster movie season is upon us. I kicked it off last night with my oldest son (11 years old) and Iron Man 2. Not as good as the first Iron Man, in my opinion, but it did not disappoint. I love conflicted or self destructive heros!! It somehow makes them more real. It was a great outing… good escapism, good popcorn, and good company.

Welcome to the :Doleo: web site and blog!! My name is Alec Inglis and I am a resident of the virtual world known as 2nd Life. Rough and a work in progress, I’ll be working hard over the next few weeks to flesh out the site and whip it into shape.
Designer, Builder, and Terraformer in 2nd Life, I am also a real time Dominant 1st Life. With that in mind, I am hoping this site will be a provocative, but enjoyable read with a broad range of topics, both professional and personal in nature.
An exploration of the raw and the cooked… As the renowned anthropologist Claude Levi-Strauss might say.
